Christiana Payne is Professor Emerita of History of Art at Oxford Brookes University. Her books include John Brett: Pre-Raphaelite Landscape Painter (2010) and In the Shade of the Pine: Artists, Writers, and Trees in America, 1825–1876 (2025).
